My Love Affair with J.Crew Part 1
12:02:00 PMToday when I checked the mail, I was pleasantly surprised to find the September 2011 J.Crew Catalog waiting for me. A common trend you will see through out my blog is my passionate love affair with J.Crew. I don't consider myself insanely preppy (although I do play lacrosse, went to a private all-girls school for high school and attend a small liberal arts college in New England...) I still LOVE J.Crew. What draws me in are the classic cuts and the amazing color palettes (each season my heart melts with their color choices). Their clothes fit my curvy body pretty well. I also adore the 15% student discount when you show your student ID. For this fall, here are a few of my favorites from the catalog. Sadly, most of this stuff is outrageously out of my budget. Regardless, all of these things will serve as inspiration for my fall wardrobe. Hopefully, I'll be able to find similar things within my budget!
Billie Buckle Boots with Extended Calf in Chocolate
$345
Ok. So I'm practically salivating over these boots. The chocolate is so insanely versatile: I can picture wearing these every single wash of skinny jean I own. The buckle gives this more equestrian style boot a rougher edge. The other thing I love about these boots is that they come in extended calf sizes. What that means is that they actually fit my curvy, muscular, chunky calves. Hooray! Shopping for boots is often a burden for me: anything taller than an ankle boot is typically too tight for me to wear. I'm hoping that I can find similar boots at a less ridiculous price that actually fit me.
Majesty Peacoat in Dark Peony
$258
Peacoats and I get along quite well. Unlike big puffy winter coats, they are incredibly slimming! Wool peacoats like this one are also pretty warm. This is an important factor in choosing a coat considering it snows in Maine from November through March or even April. I also feel so much chicer in a peacoat than in my big North Face ski coat. What I love about this one is the clean silhouette and the bright berry pink color. It's not too sweetly pink! Although I probably don't need another peacoat (I do adore my current navy blue one), I'll be looking for more wardrobe pieces in this lovely color!
The Eden Cardigan in Bright Dahlia, Hthr Viridian Green, Vibrant Flame, and Hthr Dark Grape
$89.50
These colors are hands down amazing. This fall I want to make sure I include bright colors in my wardrobe. These are perfect: bright but not insanely neon. Cardigans are also the most versatile part of a closet. You can wear these over dresses, with a skirt, with jeans, with leggings, oh the list goes on and on....
City Mini in Heather Fern
$85
If law schools had interviews, this would be my go to piece. This green is another color I've been dying for. I would totally rock this with one of my many sweaters (navy, grey, white, etc.) and my leopard print flats.
I can't wait to look for similar pieces that are more reasonable prices (maybe some of these colors will pop up in the outlet in Freeport?). Until then, I'll keep admiring the beautiful colors of J.Crew's Fall 2011 line.
