As you may or may not know, Kanye West recently released his video for "Bound 2".  This song is definitely not his best but the video is what makes it memorable.  It feature's his boo and the mother of his child Kim Kardashian naked and on a motorcycle.  Seriously.  The female body is beautiful but it should be respected.  Something irks me about fully dressed men acting crudely around naked women. Kim and Kanye look like they're having sex on the motorcycle and Kanye looks like he'd rather be somewhere else.  He's fully clothed and she's not.  He's in control of the situation: driving the motorcycle and on top of her.  The heteronormativity and inherent patriarchy!  SYMBOLS!  It's not as bad as Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines", but it's still pretty ridiculous.  If you would like to see it for yourself...

Well Seth Rogan and James Franco made a parody.  It is incredible. 

In this shot-for-shot spoof, these two show how ridiculous this video is.  Obviously this version has critiques of it's own (most notably poking fun at homosexuality as a form of comedy) but it shows gender roles in a humorous but enlightening way.  Often times no one bats an eye when a woman is half-naked in a music video.  When a pretty normal looking guy like Seth Rogan does it, it shows the discrepancy in gender roles.  It's humorous because it's 'atypical' for a man to act like such.  James Franco acts like the hyper-masculine Kanye (acting tough, crude lyrics, etc) and shows that portrayal is pretty ridiculous too.  Maybe it wasn't their intention, but they show how crazy representations of gender roles are in popular cultural.
