Hooked on Serial
8:51:00 AMYou guys, the podcast "Serial" is absolutely amazing. I heard rave reviews everywhere and my boyfriend finally convinced me to download it and listen to it on my daily commute. It's fantastic and I'm completely hooked. If you haven't heard about it already, I highly suggest you check it out.
According to the Serial Website:
On January 13, 1999, a girl named Hae Min Lee, a senior at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore County, Maryland, disappeared. A month later, her body turned up in a city park. She'd been strangled. Her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was arrested for the crime, and within a year, he was convicted and sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison. The case against him was largely based on the story of one witness, Adnan’s friend Jay, who testified that he helped Adnan bury Hae's body. But Adnan has always maintained he had nothing to do with Hae’s death. Some people believe he’s telling the truth. Many others don’t.It's a true story. Adnan was convicted and is currently serving a life sentence in prison. The incredible host of Serial, Sarah Koenig, isn't sure he's guilty and every week she dives deeper into the story.
It's suspenseful and leaves you torn between "he's guilty" and "he's innocent" after every episode. It highlights how complex criminal trials are and the weaknesses of the American legal system. At dinner Steve and I have in depth discussions about each of the episodes and the overarching story. If you love Law and Order or a good crime novel you will love it. Did I convince you to check it out? You can listen to it here.
